History & Legacy
Institutional History
Lady Willingdon was founded under the ideals of the YWCA to offer care and protection for women entering the workforce at the turn of the century.
Early Years
It originally housed Anglo-Indian and European women working as nurses, clerks, and shop assistants, while the YWCA established an employment bureau and commercial school alongside it.
Enduring Mission
Over the years, the facility has adapted its services, but our core mission of protecting and supporting working women remains unchanged.
