In India, YWCA’s history dates back to 1875 when the first local association was established in Bombay (Mumbai). This was followed by a formal set-up of the institution in the year 1896 at the National level, the YWCA of India in New Delhi. Having established in 1875, the YWCA of Bombay is one of the oldest non-profit community service organizations for women in India, which is based on the Biblical Principle ’Love Thy Neighbour as Thyself’.

The agenda for Sustainable Development which includes a set of 17 goals was developed as a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart, are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests. – https://sdgs.un.org/goals
