How YWCA of Bombay Began!<\/h2> <\/div>\r\n \r\n

In India, YWCA\u2019s history dates back to 1875 when the first local association was established in Bombay (Mumbai). This was followed by a formal set set-up of the institution in the year 1896 at the National level, the YWCA of India in New Delhi. Having established in 1875, the YWCA of Bombay It is one of the oldest non-profit community service organizations for women in India, which is based on the Biblical Principle \u2019Love Thy Neighbour as Thyself\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\r\n \r\n \r\n <\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n

Our Belief<\/h2> <\/div>\r\n \r\n

This movement which was based on prayer and service adopted the Blue Triangle as its symbol. How YWCA India Chapter Began!<\/b><\/h2>

Primary Task<\/b><\/h3>

It seeks to bring justice and equality for women across all faiths, cultural, economic and social mileu, whether at home or at the workplace, with special emphasis on the girl child. It aims to build self -esteem through its various programmes of literacy, self-employment through training programmes, and balwadis for the underprivileged and marginalized girls of the community.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/b>Our Commitments<\/b><\/h3>
  • To empower women to demand justice against social, cultural, economic and political injustice and enable them to address issues, initiate action, and be agents of change at the grass root level.<\/li>
  • As inheritors of the Christian faith and heritage, be called upon to be initiators of change through selfless love, service and sacrifice.<\/li>
  • To sensitize our communities especially the women, underprivileged and marginalized, and educate them about prevalence of violence against women and children, and struggle for the elimination of all forms of violence and discrimination against them.<\/li>
  • To build awareness about public participation in decision-making process, and an advocating spirit towards issues of health care, educational needs, degradation of environment and effective implementation of legal provisions.<\/li>
  • To initiate and advocate attitudinal changes in family, society and to promote change in society and in state policy.<\/li>
  • To network and work with other human rights organizations, towards greater interest of the society.<\/li>
  • To implement the UN Sustainable Developmental Goals 2030 at the local level<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
