The Public Relations Committee was born when the growing need to showcase the Association on a larger scale was felt both by the Management and the Members. It is the face of YWCA within the organisation and beyond and plays a vital role in creating an awareness of the activities, facilities and areas of work in keeping with the YWCA mission and vision. It reaches out to women and children from all walks of life irrespective of caste, community, religion and race from all walks of life especially the poor, deprived, harassed, marginalised and victims of injustice. It provides a home away from home to many young women and works for community welfare and environmental protection.
Public Relations looks into all communication aspects for various committees as also for YWCA as a whole. It arranges for preparation of banners, placards, posters etc for various programmes. It conducts need based trainings for members and staff on various topics concerning better communication, interaction coping with stress etc. It assists in documentation, and other creations like pocket calendar etc. where the YWCA and its programmes are portrayed.
It endeavours to make YWCA known through newspaper displays of events of interest to the public like ‘Safety of Women’ Environmental Protection etc. It ensures the website is updated regularly and the Annual Report and other documentation is sent out in time to members and benefactors. It is involved in contributing articles to the ’Jottings’ the monthly newsletter of YWCA of Bombay. Many initiatives have been taken by this Committee in the last year to bring to light the good work being done by YWCA in different areas for the welfare of women, children and youth.
